Overview
Located just two hours from both Atlanta and Chattanooga, Lake Blue Ridge is part of the Chattahoochee National Forest of North Georgia. When water is released from the Blue Ridge Dam to generate electricity, the Toccoa River turns into a Class II rapid that winds through Georgia’s hills. Fans of fishing flock to the area to catch sunfish, trout, and bass. Aside from providing power and recreational opportunities, Lake Blue Ridge also helps control flooding. Finished in 1930, Blue Ridge Dam stretches 167 feet high and spans 1,000 feet across the Toccoa River.
