Overview
Carters Lake is a man-made reservoir located on the Coosawattee River in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Primarily found in Gilmer and Murray counties, Carters Lake is Georgia’s deepest body of water. With 3,200 surface acres and a depth of more than 450 feet, Carters Dam is the tallest earthen dam east of the Mississippi River.
